Venice, Florida, June 15, 2018 – Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections (SAFE) will announce its next steps for the citizens’ initiative to change Sarasota County Commission elections to Single Member Districts at a Press Conference to be held at 12:15 PM Friday, June 22, 2018.

The media opportunity will be held east of the steps to the main entrance of the Terrace Building, 101 S. Washington Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34236, on the south side of the building, after the last petitions are submitted to the Supervisor of Elections Office.

More than the required 15,096 petitions have been gathered by voters of all political parties in support of this referendum, which will help get big money control out of elections for Sarasota County Commissioner, reduce the cost of campaigning by 80 %, and encourage Commissioners to be accountable to the voters, rather than their largest donors.
